MULTI-ZONE DUCTLESS HEAT PUMPS

Choose between Cold-Climate (rebate-qualifying) and Regular/Standard efficiency.

Condition multiple rooms with one outdoor unit — with clear trade-offs explained.

Multi-zone ductless uses one outdoor unit to serve multiple indoor units (heads). It can be a clean solution for multi-room comfort in homes without ductwork, and it allows different spaces to be controlled independently.

That said, multi-zone isn’t always the best performing or best value choice. In some homes, two separate single-zone systems can be quieter, more efficient, and easier to service long-term. We’ll talk through that honestly during the estimate.

Cold Climate vs Regular: What’s the Real Difference?

Cold-climate systems are selected specifically to be rebate-qualifying and to make sense for Ottawa winters. Regular systems are often chosen where cooling is the priority, or where ductless is acting as a supplement rather than the main heat source.

Pick Cold Climate if:

  • You care about rebate eligibility
  • You want ductless to do real winter heating
  • You want stronger low-temp performance

Pick Regular if:

  • You mainly want efficient cooling (and light shoulder-season heating)
  • Budget is the priority and your heating plan is already covered
  • The space is low-risk (e.g., bonus room, occasional-use area)

Indoor Unit Styles (Multi-Zone)

Multi-zone systems can be paired with different indoor styles depending on layout and availability — including wall heads, floor consoles, ceiling cassettes, and slim duct concealed units. We’ll confirm the best pairing based on the rooms and the routing options in your home.

When Multi-Zone Makes Sense

Multi-zone is usually a good fit when:
  • You want comfort in several closed-off rooms
  • You want independent temperature control by area
  • You prefer one outdoor unit outside
Multi-zone is usually not ideal when:
  • You have one main open space (single-zone often wins)
  • You want maximum efficiency when only one room calls at a time
  • You need very high output in one critical space (we may recommend a dedicated single-zone there)
Our cold-climate multi-zone options are selected with rebate eligibility in mind, subject to program rules and proper pairing.
